Ferrari F1 memorabilia including engines, a motorhome used between 2001 and 2005 and wind tunnel models are some of the items under the hammer at an auction due to take place at Ferrari HQ in Maranello this Sunday, 17th May. The event is called Leggenda e Passione.
The auction is likely to see a new record for a Ferrari as a 1957 250 Testa Rossa goes under the hammer. The record currently stands at £5.9 million.
It’s an exciting time of year for car lovers to be in Italy. The classic Mille Miglia set off on 13th May and runs to the 17th, just in time for wealthy car fans fired up by a few days of driving the most beautiful roads and eating the best food Italy has to offer, to dive into Maranello and spend some money!
You’ve got to love the way Ferrari works it’s mythical status.
Now that’s an inspiration for wealth.
I don’t know why but a Ferrari Wind Tunnel model appeals to me. Probably won’t be able to afford one though.
I would love a wind tunnel model too. I would also like to get hold of the sketchbooks of the designers and engineers. I would definitely buy Adrian newey’s sketchbook if he published one.
You should ask Mike Coughlan for a look at his set.
That is worth an extra line on the lottery tomorrow, just in case.
How cool would it be to sit in an Italian cafe in the sushine with your newly purchased “Testa Rossa” parked outside for all to admire. A little bit of Chris Rea music drifting from the stereo, ah dream on.
Instead I’m sat here in north Wales on a very cold and damp day in May waiting the news as to whether Hazel Blears’ cat has been fiddling its Whiskas account at the local corner shop. Different world methinks.
I went to Maranello 3 years ago for a factory tour & stayed at the Planet hotel over the road from the factory gates watching all the Ferrari’s coming & going. It’s a lovely part of Italy great food & wine especialy at Montana’s with the memorabilia surrounding you & famous guests.
that is definitely batman’s car
That gorgeous 250 Testa Rossa broke the record for the most expensive car ever to be sold at auction: http://www.f1buzz.net/2009/05/19/ferrari-250-tr-sells-for-12-million/
